Metalheads Redux
Peggy Johnson
2009
Insects have been a longtime interest, and I use their shapes in my jewelry. Nature is a recurrent work theme, important to reflect on it in a caring manner.

I work directly in the metal using simple hand tools, and sometimes I form shapes with hydraulic pressure. Addition of semiprecious stones and beads adds color. Details are important to me.

I feel connections to metalworkers through different cultures and in past ages. For me, it's exciting to have an idea that becomes a real object. I have been making jewelry for 39 years.
