Metalheads Redux

To me, the world is a place that is a paradox: it is finite, and yet it is infinitely complex and minutely detailed if we stop to take a closer look at it. That is what I have always strove to capture in my drawings, and to share with others in turn. I use colored pencils, building up layer upon layer of colors in order to achieve an affect that is both realistic, and filled with patterning that reflects the shape, color, and composition of my work. The process is very labor intensive - an individual drawing can take hundreds of hours and several months or more to produce. My drawings have been inspired by a variety of subject matter, and my universe of resources and influences is constantly expanding. In more recent months, I have taken influences from shapes and objects that appeared or were found by pure chance. I enjoy taking seemingly ordinary things and rearranging them to create a new world for them that is both unique, and which follows its own rules.
